WBA President Hugh Meddins comes Home

Dinas Powis President Hugh Meddins, the 2008 President of the Welsh Bowling Association brought his representative team to a rain soaked Dinas Powis on Thursday 10th July.

A rain delayed game was interrupted by heavy showers, and it was decided to end the game after prolonged rain at about 8 ends. The ladies of Dinas Powis, ably led by Club Secretary Mo Diment, set out a delightful meal, much appreciated by 48 damp bowlers.

In his speech of welcome, Dinas Powis Club Captain Andre Desrosiers thanked President Hugh for bringing his representative side to Dinas Powis and congratulated him on his WBA Presidency. Andre gave a potted history of Hughs involvement in the administration of the game in Wales, a record of service spanning over 30 years.

On behalf of the Club Andre expressed the Club's gratitude for Hugh's 33 years of tireless work and dedication to Dinas Powis Bowling Club.

In response Hugh thanked the Club for their best wishes. He expressed his gratitude to many of the old bowlers of Dinas Powis, who had significant influence on the young Hugh Meddins. It was their encouragement that led to his involvement in the administration of the game in Wales, culminating in his election to the highest office in Welsh Bowls, that of WBA President for 2008.
