Dinas Powis Bowling Club

Hugh began playing bowls at Newtown BC when he was 15 years old. He also played at Bridgend Municipal BC before joining Dinas Powis in 1971. He was appointed Club Treasurer in 1975 and has been an Officer of the Club for the last 30 years, holding office as Fixture Secretary, Assistant Treasurer, Chairman and Club Captain. In 1992 he was elected as Club President and in the same year was made a Life Member in recognition of his service to the Club.

Hugh has been a Vale of Glamorgan CBA committee member for 28 years and was County President in 1991. He has managed both the County Championship and Senior Championship teams and was elected as an Honorary Member of the Association in 1997.

In recent years Hugh has been involved in administration at national level. He was appointed to the WBA Council in 1992 having previously been WBA District Competitions Controller for 4 years. He has been a National Selector for the past 7 years and has recently completed a four year appointment as International Team Manager. Hugh was a County player for many years and was an Indoor International. He has won Indoor and Outdoor Welsh titles and has the distinction of being the only Welsh player to have held the British Isles Indoor and Outdoor Fours titles in the same year.
