Club News Congratulations to Dinas Powis 2nd Team Captain Martin Seaford and the Second Team Squad for winning the PG2 Division 1 Title for 2010 Captain Martin Seaford and the Team before the game at Rhiwbina Congratulations to Dinas Powis Captain Clive Todd and the First Team Squad for an Outstanding Achievement in Winning the Welsh Club Championship for 2010. The Winning Team Dinas Powis reach the Carruthers Shield Semi-final Dinas Powis Bowling Club reached the Semi-final stage of Wales Premier Club Championship with a solid win over Ystradfechan last Saturday. Behind by 4 shots (14 - 18) after 5 ends, the game settled into a pattern of 2 rinks up and 2 rinks down, with the winning rinks more than compensating for the rinks behind. Dinas were 8 shots to the good after 10 ends and built on this as the game progressed. A great team performance saw the losing rinks digging in with the 2 winning rinks surging ahead. The final result, a creditable 17 shot victory (85 - 68) was indeed an excellent team performance and bodes well for the
semi -final clash against Porthcawl, with a prospective final clash against either Tenby or Ferndale. Semi-finals and Final will be held on Saturday 21st August at Llandrindod Wells. Dinas Powis reach the Carruthers Shield Quarter Finals Dinas Powis Bowling Club 1st Team continued their quest to become the Welsh Club Champions with an outstanding home win over Troedyrhiw last Saturday. After a tentative start across the green Dinas trailed Troedyrhiw 15 - 23 at 5 ends. A magnificent surge of quality bowling over the next 5 ends saw Dinas sweep to a 23 shot lead, 51 - 28 at 10 ends. This set the seal on the game and despite a spirited comeback by Troedyrhiw, they could only cut their deficit to 17 shots at 18 ends. Dinas continued to produce quality bowling right to the end and ran out winners with a 94 - 68, 26 shot win. P Coles, M Woodcock, C Todd, A Meddins 30 - 8. Dinas Powis reach the Carruthers Shield 3rd Round Dinas Powis Bowling Club 1st Team had an impressive win over the Presteigne Bowling Club in the Welsh Club Championship 2nd knockout stage. Dinas Powis Rink scores: P Coles, M Woodcock, C Todd, A Meddins 28 - 15.
Congratulations to Dinas Powis 1st Team Dinas made it 4 out of 4 in the league stage of Curruthers Shield with a 17 shot win against Ely Valley. We look forward to the knockout stage. Round 1 to be played on 26th June The Men's Open Singles Championship of Wales This years Championship starts on Sunday 22nd August with the finals being played on Bank Holiday Monday 30th August.
